Local Area Activities
Long Hollow Ranch is located in the heart of Central Oregon, one of the Northwest’s most scenic premier outdoor recreation areas. Manicured golf courses, adventurous whitewater rafting, world class rock climbing, lava beds, mountain trails, and a river that flows from a hole in the ground are all within reach. You can also “shop till you drop” at antique malls, boutiques, and craft and art galleries in nearby Sisters, Redmond, Prineville, or Bend.
Central Oregon is home to many world-class golf courses. Closest to Long Hollow Ranch, and certainly one of the finest, is Aspen Lakes, just a 15 minute drive away. You may also like to try the courses at Black Butte Ranch, Eagle Crest, Brasada, Widgi Creek, Sun River, and others. Fact: There are more golf holes per capita in central Oregon than anywhere else in North America!
Crystal clear waters and lush evergreen forests have earned the McKenzie River a reputation as one of the “gems” of Oregon rafting.
The river is fast moving and lively with almost continuous whitewater; yet the rapids are family friendly, delivering an active but easy whitewater adventure for beginners and a fun and splashy experience for seasoned rafters.
High Country Expeditions offer our guests a Half-day trip that covers 10 miles near McKenzie Bridge and includes sodas and snacks. Long Hollow provides guests with a sack lunch they can enjoy on the drive going to the river or upon their arrival at the river.
Nearby Smith Rock State Park offers world-class rock climbing opportunities. An international rock climbing destination, Smith Rock offers hundreds of climbing routes to choose from. Local lessons and tours are available from local outfitters.
The Deschutes and Ochoco National Forests are home to incredible hiking trails leading to beautiful wilderness views – perfect for a day hike!
The forests and terrain surrounding Long Hollow Ranch are ideal for mountain biking expeditions.
Long Hollow Ranch is within an hour drive from two of Oregon’s top snow destinations: Mt. Bachelor and HooDoo. Both locations offer premier skiing, snowboarding, and snow shoeing activities the whole family can enjoy all while surrounded by the pristine beauty of the mountains.
15 minutes away, Sisters is a quaint western town with lots of history and charm. Antique stores and quilt shops line the street, along with restaurants and coffee shops offering tempting fare.
A 25-minute drive, Redmond is home to the Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center and several restaurants and antique stores.
About a 35 minute drive from the ranch is Bend, Central Oregon’s largest city. Bend is a destination for “foodies” looking for delicious dining, and also offers a variety of coffee shops and shopping opportunities, including well-known art galleries and the “Old Mill District.” For more information about visiting Bend, go to the Visit Bend website!
Almost every week of the year there is some special event in central Oregon, within a 15 to 30 minutes drive of Long Hollow Ranch. These include rodeos and fairs, music and art festivals, rock and gem shows, athletic events, bazaars, and swap meets. There is something of interest for almost everyone.
