Long Hollow Horseback Riding
Long Hollow Ranch is home to around 20 horses. If you want to incorporate horseback riding into your visit, we have a number of options you can take advantage of, subject to the wrangler’s riding schedule:
Basic Horsemanship Lessons
A great introduction to Western horseback riding! Your lesson will cover learning to safely lead, groom and saddle your horse and arena time working on beginner riding skills.*
*Lessons are available for guests staying at the ranch and are subject to the wrangler’s riding schedule.
Hourly Horseback Rides
As a guest of Long Hollow Ranch, riders are provided with a horse suitable to their size and riding skill. Small groups of riders are guided by our trained wranglers who also offer instruction and safety information. Riders may choose to spend their time receiving instruction in the arena or to enjoy riding the trails of Long Hollow which cover much of the ranch. Our trails offer mountain views and a variety of scenes in the amazing natural beauty of Central Oregon.
Cookout Dinner Ride
A popular treat at Long Hollow Ranch is the Dinner Cookout. Horses and riders travel through the ranch and along the fields to the cookout area beside the South Sister pond. After enjoying a barbecue including delicious picnic fare, they continue their ride through the ranch.
Another favorite at Long Hollow Ranch is the Morning Breakfast Ride. Guests mount their horses at the barn and enjoy a pleasant morning ranch ride. This ride includes a stop on the trail to enjoy a delicious breakfast of sizzling bacon, eggs and “from scratch” pancakes with hot coffee and zesty orange juice.
